LEADERSHIP COACHING & DEVELOPMENT
School leadership is meaningful work—but it’s also heavy work.

Our coaching programs give leaders the space to reflect, refine their approach, and build the skills they need to lead effectively.

This is not compliance-driven coaching. It’s human-centered, capacity-building support that equips leaders to navigate challenges with confidence, make intentional decisions, and lead their teams with clarity and purpose.
OUR COACHING PHILOSOPHY
At JHenderson Consulting we believe every leader deserves:
-
A safe space to reflect honestly,
-
A trusted partner to think through challenges, and
-
The tools to lead with clarity, build resilience, and sustain their own energy and capacity over time.

Coaching should never feel evaluative, punitive, or transactional. It should feel supportive, empowering, and grounded in the belief that when leaders thrive personally, their teams and school communities thrive too.

Our approach blends instructional leadership expertise, emotional intelligence, and practical strategy—helping leaders strengthen presence, sharpen practice, and build leadership habits that last.

HOW COACHING WORKS
Step 1: Setting the Foundation
Before coaching begins, we meet with:
-
the district leader or principal
-
the leader(s) receiving coaching

Together, we identify shared goals, school priorities, and the purpose of the coaching partnership.
This ensures that everyone is aligned, expectations are clear, and coaching supports both individual growth and school-wide goals.
Step 2: A Safe and Trusted Space
Once alignment is established, coaching provides a confidential, supportive environment where leaders can be honest, reflective, and vulnerable.

What we share with your principal or district leader(s):
-
High-level progress updates
-
Themes connected to school goals
-
Next-step recommendations (non-evaluative)

What we never share:
-
Personal reflections
-
Sensitive concerns
-
Session-by-session breakdowns
-
Anything that would break trust

This ensures leaders can address challenges, reflect openly, and grow without fear of judgment.
Step 3: Targeted Coaching Support
Leaders receive individualized support tailored to their goals, including focus areas such as:
-
Self awareness & emotional intelligence
-
Coaching and feedback skills
-
Navigating difficult conversations
-
Time and team management
-
Instructional leadership
-
Confidence, communication, and presence
-
Emotional bandwidth and well-being

Each session blends reflection, strategy, practice, and real-time problem solving.

We work together to shape the coaching timeline and pace, ensuring the support fits each leader's unique goals.
1:1 LEADERSHIP COACHING
We partner with principals, assistant principals, deans, district leaders, and instructional coaches stepping into leadership to deepen their clarity, communication, presence, and leadership skills.
Every coaching partnership is built to strengthen confidence, sharpen instructional and adult leadership, and support long-term sustainability in the role.

SMALL GROUP COACHING
Small-group leadership coaching brings principal cohorts, assistant principal teams, teacher-leader cohorts, and emerging leaders together to learn, reflect, and build aligned practices.

These sessions create space for shared learning, collaborative problem-solving, and aligned leadership practices that strengthen team culture and build collective capacity.
